Sir William Orpen KBE RA RI RHA (1878-1931).

Signed, titled, dated 1926 and inscribed “to his excellency, to a happy Monday and Wednesday evening and looking forward to a happy luncheon Friday”. William Orpen, Feb 1926.

Medium: pencil – Size: 6 x 3¾ inches  (15.24 x 9.53 cm), Framed Size: 9 x 6.50 inches (22.86 x 16.51 cm).

Condition: Staining spots visible throughout. One water stain lower edge. No rips, tears or creases apparent.

Provenance: Collection of Baron Ludovic Moncheur, Belgian ambassador to the UK in the 1920s;
Private collection.

Estimate: €1,500 – €2,000.

Inscribed on European Fine Arts label on reverse.

Medium: pencil – Size: 8½ x 7 inches (21.59 x 17.78 cm).

Framed Size: 20 x 17.50 inches (50.8 x 44.45 cm).

Condition: There are small flecks of black ink throughout the work. Otherwise very good condition.

Exhibited: ‘Twentieth Century Drawings by Irish Artists’, European Fine Arts, Dublin, November 1989.

Estimate: €800 – €1,200.

Each signed and inscribed in the plate; each with Chenil Gallery stamp.

Medium: photogravres in the original linen folio case; (8).

Size: 10 x 12 inches (25.40 x 30.48 cm).

Published by the Chenil Galleries, Chelsea, 1913. Sheet size: 18 by 23 inches (except one, which has been trimmed). Individual titles are On the Cliff, Sowing the Seed, The Yacht Race, The Bather, The Breeze, The Winner, Kit, and Part of Composition.

Condition: Some staining and marking on‚ ‘On the Cliff’‚ and ‘Part of Composition’. Otherwise very good condition.

Estimate: €2,500 – €3,500.
