Two Orpen’s for sale at Whyte’s 6th JULY 2020.

Lot 21 – A poster of ‘The Night Mail, the Enginemen’ by Sir William Orpen (1924).

Note: This is one of a series of five posters commissioned by the London Midland & Scottish Railway (LMS), printed by Bemrose & Sons Ltd. from Royal Academy artists. Each of whom received a fee of £100 plus royalties from the sale of the prints.

Frame size: 20 by 24.5 inches (51 by 62 cm).

Condition:
Some minor staining and rubbing to lower margin. Un-glazed.
Medium: Poster.

Size: 6½ x 8¾in. (16.51 x 22.23cm).

Estimate: €500 – €700. UPDATE: Sold for €2400 (hammer price).
