of Balcaskie, 5th Bt; married 1886, Mildred Harriet, CBE,
daughter of Edward Hussey, of Scotney Castle, Kent; three daughters.

Entered RE 1877; served in Egyptian Expedition, 1882 (medal
and clasp, and Khedive’s bronze star); Bechuanaland Expedition,
1884-1885; retired, 1890; Volunteer and Territorial Force
(Black Watch), 1890-1913; on Home Service, 1915-1918; French
Legion of Honour; TD; LLD St Andrews University.

Captain of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club, 1891.
