Blog
The aim of this blog is to give you an insight into the life and times of Stillorgan born artist Sir William Orpen. Orpen had a dream that Dublin would one day see fit to honor him. In 2013 local photographer Dominic Lee from Priory Studios organised a permanent exhibition of over 20 reproductions of Orpen’s works to go on display in Stillorgan Village Shopping Center. Lee also persuaded the owners to rename the 1st floor ‘Orpen Mall’. At the launch of that exhibition, Lee announced plans to fund raise through The Stillorgan Chamber of Commerce for a sculpture of Orpen to be erected in his home town. The Sculpture was created by Rowan Gillespie and in 2018 it was unveiled by Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones at The Talbot hotel Stillorgan.
